Our Furniture:
The Rusted Gate brings you unique rustic furniture, handmade from recycled wood. Salvaging old barn and farmhouse wood, windows and trim, we fashion a variety of cabinets, shelves and tables. Door panels, barn planks, and window panes are just a few of the components that bring you memories of past structures while providing a sturdy, well made piece of new furniture.
In addition, due to the condition of the pieces being reused, every piece is unique and one of a kind! Be sure to talk to us if you have any special needs or requirements. We can often accommodate special orders.
Ceiling Tin:
Ceilings in 19th century homes provide an interesting look into the past. The tin tiles were quite prevalent, and provided a beautiful finish to a room. Tin sheets were embossed with ornate patterns and shaped into field tiles. They usually were made into 24” x 24” squares, but are also found as borders and crown molding. While some people like to keep the period look of their home, others are always updating and changing. This allows us the perfect opportunity to salvage the old tin and revive it with a new use.
The Rusted Gate has partnered with a craftsman in Louisiana that creates all sizes of wall panels and shelves from old ceiling tin, and refinishes the surface with glazes and colors to go with current decorating schemes. Can be used to create interesting mantles above a fireplace, or as a headboard over a bed. In addition, the tin has been shaped into wall sconces, cut to accommodate mirrors, or to frame pictures. Special orders for a particular size are possible, as well.
